What we do

Everything on the board out the front

Midtown is a general workshop, which means most jobs get finished here rather than sent somewhere else. Cars, utes and 4x4s all welcome.

Servicing

Logbook and general servicing for everyday cars, utes and 4x4s. You get told what actually needs doing and what can wait.

Electronic tune-ups

Running rough, using more fuel than it should, or hesitating off the line? We tune it properly rather than guessing at it.

Exchange engines

When an engine is past repairing, an exchange unit gets you back on the road for a fraction of what a new vehicle costs.

Transmissions and diffs

Driveline work is where a lot of workshops stop and start referring people on. We take it on here.

Exhaust systems

Blowing exhausts, rusted-through sections and rattling mounts, repaired or replaced to suit the vehicle.

Heavy duty batteries

We are an EXIDE heavy duty battery outlet, so a flat battery does not have to turn into a day off work.

Not sure which one you need? Ring (02) 6962 1970 and describe what the car is doing.

4x4 and touring

Two things most town workshops cannot offer you

If you tow a van, run a work ute, or head out past the irrigation country on the weekend, these are the two jobs worth talking to us about before you buy anything online.

LightForce authorised dealer

Proper driving lights, supplied and fitted. Not many town workshops carry an authorised dealership, and it means the wiring is done to suit the vehicle rather than tacked on.

DPCHIP diesel tuning

Plug in power for diesel utes and 4x4s. Worth a conversation if you tow, carry a load, or spend a lot of time on the highway.

The workshop

A small shop, and that is rather the point

Midtown is run by Alf and his son, so the bloke who looks at your car is the bloke who rings you about it. There is no service adviser in between, and nothing gets added to the bill that you have not agreed to first.

Customers keep writing the same thing in their reviews, which is that they got told the truth. Sometimes that means a job we cannot do, and we will say so and point you at whoever can, rather than charging you to find out.

Broken down in Griffith and not from here?

Griffith sits on a long run between everywhere, so a fair bit of our work is people who were driving through when something let go. We are used to it, and we know that when you are on a trip the thing you need is a real answer today, not a booking for next week.

“I panicked when my car broke down in Griffith with a check engine light and severe shaking. They diagnosed the misfire issue super quickly, got my engine running smoothly again.”

Top-notch service ! As a foreigner driving from Melbourne to Brisbane, I panicked when my car broke down in Griffith with a check engine light and severe shaking. A mate recommended I come here. They diagnosed the misfire issue super quickly, got my engine running smoothly again, and gave me great advice on securing the connector plug properly so it wouldn't happen again. Absolutely brilliant mechanics! Cheers guys !

Great father and son duo running the garage. They're very friendly and helpful both in person and over the phone. I went in for a pretty straightforward service and didn't have any issues.

The guys here were so helpful, fitting me in even just before Christmas, getting things done quickly, and letting me know about things that tend to go wrong with my make of car and how to avoid that. Was my first time taking my car to them and they made me feel like a really valued customer already. Really appreciate their work.

I did not drop my car in here but i did call up to see if an issue with my car could be fixed. The gentleman was very friendly and knew exactly what their shop was able to do and my issue was something only toyota can fix. I was referred to them without the hassle of bringing it in and being charged for a diagnosis! honest mechanics are hard to find so I apprectiate the honesty!

Alf and his small team do phenomenal work. His prices are right and above all else he's honest. It's hard to find a mechanic that won't play games as it's easy to do with cars, but Alf is always upfront and gives it to you straight. I'll always recommend anyone to Alf if asked. Well done mate, keep up the good work.
